Beta Alpha Psi gave Professor Bost a special award for "Teaching Excellence" in the Spring of 1996. Beta Alpha Psi is the accountancy student honor society. Many of the students who take the estate planning course are accounting majors.
He was also honored with a College of Business Administration Faculty Recognition Award for Teaching in the Spring of 1996. Selection for the honor is by a CBA faculty committee.
In the Spring of 1998, Professor Bost was selected by the top finance department graduating student as their most influential professor and, appeared on dais at graduation with them.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
He served as Chair of the San Dieguito Community Planning Commission from 1994-1995. The group provided a forum for interested citizens (Solana Beach, Encinitas, Rancho Santa Fe, and Lucadia) to hear from the county about changes in zoning and transportation matters, and in turn reported back to the County Board of Supervisors on it position concerning these matters.
In 1979 he served as Vice-Chair of the Bataquitos Lagoon Foundation, an environmental group concerned with preserving habitat around the South Carlsbad lagoon and in enhancing the water quality of the lagoon itself.
From 1994 to 1996 he serve as member of the Board of Directors of the American Aneurysm Foundation. This is a not-for-profit, federally recognized, charity that has as its purpose to increase public awareness of aneurysm diseases and to promote related research, with the expectation that these endeavors will cut down the incidence of death and disability caused thereby.
